Transactional Analysis for Coaches
Sat June 7th 08

TA, which was developed in the 50’s, is one of the most powerful and accessible set of tools in communications theory. It has been used in organisations world-wide since the 80’s and is known for its insightfulness and practicality.
Many coaches are benefiting from learning and working with some of the central ideas and tools in TA.

Would you like to become much more effective and efficient in your work with your coachees?

  • Understand the connection between yourself and your coachee?
  • Understand how to recognise and dissolve limiting unconscious behaviours?
  • Learn how to stop repeating behavioural patterns in yourself and your coachee?
  • Learn advanced TA tools and process skills?
  • Gain great confidence with a wide variety of clients?
  • Extend your tool kit and comfort zone in a safe and generous learning environment?

Then this unique workshop is for you. We will have time to look at a range of TA concepts in an educational and participative way. Using a lightly structured programme, we will explore these fabulous tools to bring much greater clarity, awareness and competence to the work of both Personal and Executive coaches.

Programme: the day will be structured around these key TA concepts and tools:

Parent/Adult/Child. (PAC) Recognising and Understanding the various EGO states which are part of who we are – how they developed, how they show up in coaching, how they form the limiting beliefs within your client, how to spot imbalances in PAC and support the client to shift and to be more adult and conscious, thus enhancing choices and behaviours. We will indicate how important PAC is in the realms of decision making. PAC material will also significantly support Personal Development in you and your coachee.

Karpman Drama Triangle. This stunning model of the “games we play” has a wide range of applications in coaching practice. It’s fun to learn, dynamite to practice and is used at all levels of coaching. It works in tandem with PAC to give the coach deep insights and immediate understanding of what is happening at the dynamic level in client behaviours. It is easy to teach to your coachee and so its usefulness can be accessed immediately – one of those tools where scales truly fall from the eyes!

Working safely and confidently with difficult client situations using TA – In live supervision demos we will process how to find a resolution with your ‘difficult’ clients through the tools you will have learnt.

Clarifying the Counselling/coaching borders – This coaching theme is common in many coaching situations. We will address it as the day proceeds in discussion with you, through the teaching and through live demos.

The day will be lively, interactive and informative, and will be punctuated with live supervision, to which we can all contribute and from which we can all learn. (You will not be asked to coach in front of the group!)

CPD certificates will be given to delegates.

Follow-up supervision will be available at a reduced fee.
