A 2-day training in Transpersonal Skills for Executive and Personal Coaches
London, June 26/27, 2010
Between living and dreaming
There is something else.
Guess what it is.
Antonio Machado
Do your clients sometimes take you beyond your comfort zone?
Do you want to work more effectively within organisations that are stressed out?
Would you like to have more insights/tools when working with the ‘Big Picture”?
Do you want to understand more about you as you coach- intuitively, somatically, cognitively?
Want to understand how to expand your sense of presence in a conversation about resilience, meaning and purpose?
Perhaps you would like to work more with body/mind/soul energy?
Increasingly, coaches are working in organizations which are facing the tumult of our times and with coachees who are experiencing the need for self awareness and steady presence as they are challenged by a range of issues; as J Whitmore writes: 'personal development often comes without a choice'. (OCM Coach and }Mentor Journal 2009). Meeting this widening agenda, coaches need to equip themselves for a deeper conversation with their clients and with the organizations that they serve.
Transpersonal Coaching has always addressed itself to meaning making, whatever the circumstances, and to enabling practitioners to create a sound container for their work - the ‘temenos’ that holds both the everyday and the archetypal.
For many of our clients, the journey increasingly is not only about their objectives at work, their role, promotion or career but is also about a calling to understand who they truly are, and to begin a journey that may invite them to create a much broader, richer foundation and a sustaining vision for life in and beyond work. How can we, as coaches and coach supervisors, ensure that we are ready to meet them where they are and explore fearlessly with them from both our head and heart?
As coach supervisors, we are often supporting very capable Executive and Personal Coaches who hesitate on the brink of breakthrough. This may be because they feel uncertain about what's happening or read ‘deeper’ journey as ‘dark’ and out of their scope and have run out of skills and confidence to go that bit further towards a potentially transformative discovery.
Being prepared to accompany coachees on that journey and going with them into uncharted territory, requires of us all, the experience and understanding of a multi-dimensional conversation with ourselves and then with each other. This conversation will touch on personal identity, our impact at work and on meaning and purpose.
In these two days we will give you a sense of what transpersonal coaching can bring to your practice as a coach and supervisor and how it can help your clients be more resourceful. We will give you maps, tools and techniques, experiential exercises as well as the archetypal language that will help you to stand with your client at the interface between their outer world of work and their inner world. In that space you can facilitate development, whether through their aspirations or inspirations; you can accompany your clients on a journey through meaning making and transformation.
This training will marry contemporary insights with ancient wisdom. The course will have a mixture of teaching and experiential learning – there will be significant Personal Development focus. Participation in the course will lead to: ' a deeper self confidence that supports a steady presence whatever each moment brings...and will develop valuable self-support, skills that will powerfully impact the fields that you work in.’ (Fiona Adamson).
