ICF Coaching Supervision Qualification (CSQ)

ICF has recently introduced information about a new Coaching Supervision Qualification (CSQ). CSA is currently reviewing the detail and seeking clarification directly from ICF.

Our initial view is that this is a positive development and does not fundamentally change CSA’s position. Rigorous supervision training, continuing development, and supervisors receiving supervision are already central to CSA’s model.

Our initial reading is that the CSA Diploma appears to align in principle with the criteria outlined by ICF. We are reviewing the detailed requirements before making any definitive statement.

This is something CSA will consider in due course. CSA is already a long-established and professionally recognised provider, with ICF Approved Provider status and continuous EMCC accreditation for the Diploma since 2005.

At this stage, we cannot assume automatic qualification. ICF wording suggests that supervisors with recognised credentials may be eligible for consideration, but this is not the same as an automatic award.

Our current understanding is that this impacts those wanting to do the Advanced Certification in Team Coaching - ACTC from Jan 2027. i.e. does not affect the credentialling process for ACC, PCC or MCC. We have 109 hours over our CSA Diploma recognised by ICF ( 78 CC & 31 RD). For applicants to gain the ICF CSQ they need 41 or more hours with at least 50% being synchronous and the Education must align with the ICF Coaching Supervision Competencies. I remain confident that we qualify already but need to get confirmation from ICF direct so we can be sure about any formal announcement.
